A Monotangle – Shattuck

This week’s Diva Challenge is to create a tile using only one tangle, which Diva Laura Harms calls a “monotangle.”  The tangle she chose for this challenge is Shattuck.

I wanted to see if I could create some tangleations for this tangle.  The tile has the original tangle surrounded by two tangleations.  Those who have seen my tiles in the past know that I enjoy adding color, but this time I decided to keep it black on white with graphite shading.

This is my tile in response to the challenge.

Although my life is very busy right now, I decided that this was a great exercise for me so I took the time to answer this challenge.  And I am glad that I did.  Before committing any of the tangleations to my tile I played with ideas in my sketch book  – some were rejected right away and others just need some tweaking.

This isn’t my favorite tile but it is the first one I did and I promised myself that I would always publish my first tile.  It reflects the Zentangle concept that there are no mistakes.

The link to the step-outs for this tangle is on Laura’s blog.  While there, be sure to check out how others have responded to the challenge.  I hope that you find these tiles as inspiring and educational as I do.

There are times when I would like to leave a comment about someone’s tile but find that I am not able to do so because  I don’t fit into the categories.  Sorry!  I hope you know that I appreciate your tiles too!

As always, I am so grateful to all who leave me comments, which are a great source of encouragement and support.  To those who left comments last time, a huge THANK YOU!

Until next time,
Sending smiles,
Maureen
