A New Tangle Pattern…Athitzi

The first week of most months the Diva Challenge is called “Use My Tangle (UMT).”  The Diva, Laura Harms, randomly chooses a tangle from a list of those submitted by their creators.  The tangle for this challenge was created by Eleanor Holt and is called Athitzi. It is a new tangle for me and I found it to be an interesting tangle that creates great texture.  Thanks Laura and Eleanor.

Here is my tile for this week:

Tangles used: Athitzi and Paushalov

Tangles used: Athitzi and Paushalov . The tile was colored using Prismacolor Pencils

For this tile, the Athitzi seemed like a good background for the tangleation of Paushalov, which comes from Cris Letourneau’s book, “Pattern Play.”  (It is a great book!).  The Athitzi was originally colored in a dull yellow.  It just didn’t look right so I added orange and now it works better for me.

I encourage you to visit the Diva Challenge for a link to the step-outs for Athitzi and to see how others are answering this challenge. There is so much that we can learn from each other just by viewing the different interpretations.  There are many times when I find myself saying, “Wow, I never thought to use the pattern that way.”

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I would be delighted if you left me a comment and a huge thank all who have left comments last week.

  • This is a great tile. Love the color.

  • Love your tile and the colors you used.

  • Very different from others I saw and very beautiful! 🙂

    • Thank you Annemarie. We have gotten a number of back to back snowstorms so there is a lot of shoveling to be done so I haven’t taken the time to view many of the submissions this week. They are predicting another storm Sunday night lasting through Monday and ending on Tuesday. More shoveling! But the weather over the weekend sounds like I might have time to view the other tiles. I learn so much from them. I appreciate your comment – it warms my heart. 🙂

  • I love the warm colours you’re used!

    • Thank you for leaving a comment. I really like using yellow and oranges and glad that they resonate with you too. 🙂

  • Nicely done. I have been playing with complementary color shading and yours is a great example.

  • Absolutely gorgeous tile! Wonderful these warm colours!

  • The contrasts in colour and pattern make for a very surprising and amazing combination. It has made me look at Athiszi in a whole different way.
We’re currently stuck in the snow too so your warm colours are all I crave for right now. Thank you for sharing.

    • Thank you Nat not only for the comments, but for the chuckle. I think it was a subconscious idea to make it warm. Today is Saturday and we are getting yet more snow today and over the weekend until Tuesday morning. I love snow, but I don’t want it every day. 🙂

  • Yup, absolutely LOVE this very warm and beautiful tile! Reminds me of sun, and beach and warm water!

    • Thanks Sue…yes, sun, beach and warm water sounds wonderful right now, although the snow flakes falling is also a pretty sight – as long as I don’t think about shoveling it. 🙂
