Using a tangle that is new to me – Siri…

It has been a long time since I have posted a tile for the Diva Challenge. Although I am still dealing with the effects of my treatment for breast cancer, it feels good to be back doing the Diva Challenges. I’m on the upswing of my recovery and above ground. Life is good! 🙂 (PS…Ladies, get your mammogram! It could save your life!)

The first Monday of each month the Diva posts a UMT, which means “Use My Tangle.”  This month’s UMT is CZT Simone Menzel’s tangle Siri. For the step-outs click here.

I started by drawing the pattern as a monotangle on a Bijou tile.  I found that I made the corner strokes too shallow, so I changed the angles and filled them in with black ink.

Then I combined Siri with other tangles on a regular tile. I struggled with this pattern. I thought about making the initial squares larger but thought that by doing so I would lose the effect where the two edges come together. In hindsight, I wish I had used the larger squares anyway. I think the composition would have been more proportional and more cohesive…next time. 🙂  I always show the first tile that I create so here it is:

Tangles: Siri, Ennies, Jalousie
Colored with Prismcolor pencils

Be sure to check out Laura’s blog  to see how others have responded to this week’s challenge.  I hope that you find these tiles as inspiring and educational as I do.  I always learn something from those who post their tiles.  Thank you to all of you.  🙂

Until next time,
Sending smiles,

🙂
