First, I want to say how heartwarming to read how Artoo’s class embraced him and Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day. What an enriching experience for everyone in the classroom and in the school. Bravo Artoo!!!!!!!
This week’s Diva Challenge is called a Duo Tangle, which means to use two tangles in some combination. For this challenge we were to use the tangles Paradox and Diva Dance. The blog included a video by Zentangle founders, Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas showing how Rick combined these tangles. It was a huge help and a source of inspiration. Rick makes it looks so easy.
Laura stated that she is committed to posting her first tiles, no matter what. I have the same commitment and am posting my first two tiles.
In my first tile where the Paradox of one triangle meets the Paradox in the next triangle, it forms a twisted section. This is my preferred way of drawing this tangle. I found that when I combined Diva Dance I wasn’t able to maintain the twist and the Diva Dance got lost in that section. When I have more time I may play with this version of Paradox to see if I can figure a way to show the twist and still have the Diva Dance flow through it.
Tangles: Paradox and Diva Dance
For the second tile I decided to use Rick’s suggestion and created the fan-shaped version of Paradox along with the Diva Dance. Not as elegant as Rick’s version, but it is okay. It is just a matter of practicing the tangle as a fan-shape until it is as effortless for me to draw as the twisted-middle shape.

I enjoyed doing both of these tiles as they took my mind off the stresses in the country right now. I don’t want to go down the political venue in this blog, so I will just leave it at that. (To protect my sanity I am not turning on the TV until it is time for the show “This Is Us,” one of my all-time favorites, and when it is over I will turn the TV off again and read! Just my way of coping!)
Be sure to check out the Diva blog to see how others combined these two tangles. I hope that you find the tiles on Laura’s blog inspiring and educational. I’m excited to see what others have created.
Thank you to those who posted comments on last week’s tile. 🙂
Just a note: There are times when I would like to leave a comment about someone’s tile but find that I am not able to do so because I don’t have any of the accounts required to respond. Sorry! I hope you know that I appreciate your tiles too!
Until next time,
Sending smiles,
Maureen
