This week’s Diva Challenge was interesting – it was about blind strings. I like the structure of a string so this was an interesting variation that I really enjoyed. You make the frame on the tile and then close your eyes as you create a string.
I started with this string…
that resulted in this tile:
I encourage you to view the other tiles submitted to the Diva Challenge. It is so interesting to see how other people meet the challenge and you may see a string that really speaks to you.
I missed the last two Diva Challenges because I was attending the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) National Convention in Denver, CO. My friend and colleague Sue and I had some time before our flight home so we went to the Denver Botanical Garden to see the Chihuly exhibit. It was absolutely amazing! Dale Chihuly is an American glass sculptor who revolutionized the art of glass blowing. The photos are breathtaking, but seeing them in person was awesome. The sheer size of these sculptures were stunning. There are many YouTube videos about Chihuly, his exhibits, and his work. The following are links to just one a couple of them (I haven’t figured out how to include a video here…sorry!) : Photos from the Chihuly exhibit. A YouTube showing the assembly of one of the sculptures: Assembly. Another YouTube of the Exhibit. If you have the opportunity to see his exhibit in an area near you, you don’t want to miss it. Be prepared to be wowed!
Until next time,
Sending smiles,
Maureen
