For the first challenge of each month, Diva Laura Harms chooses a tangle and calls the challenge, “UMT,” which stands for Use My Tangle. It is a great way to play with a tangle that is new to you or that you have tried before and didn’t take to right away.
This week’s challenge is to use Henrike Bratz’s tangle named, Crux. I read in Laura’s description that this tangle takes focus, so I was prepared and drew each stroke slowly and deliberately. Along with the step-outs, Henrike gives us lots of variations to play with.
Because this was a new tangle for me I decided to keep my first tile simple. I followed the step-outs and then colored the tile. There is a silver dot at each junction of a line, which doesn’t show up very well on the scan.
Tangle: Crux by Henrike Bratz
Color: Prismacolor pencils
For the second tile I used one Henrike’s variations then added an aura around the inner square and added lines to echo those in the petal shapes. There is a silver dot at the center of the green leaf shapes.
Tangle: Crux

Be sure to check out Laura’s blog to see how others have responded to the challenge. I hope that you find these tiles inspiring and educational. Now I’ll go and see what others have created with the tangle Crux to see what ideas I can “steal.” 🙂
As always, I am grateful for all of your comments, which are a great source of encouragement and support. To those who left comments last time, a huge THANK YOU!
There are times when I would like to leave a comment about someone’s tile but find that I am not able to do so because I don’t have any of the accounts required to respond. Sorry! I hope you know that I appreciate your tiles too!
Until next time,
Sending smiles,
Maureen
